I’ll start by giving away my answer first. Do not hire just any videographer to shoot your architecture project. Honestly, I really mean no offense to any of the traditional videographers out there. I would just like to propose that there is a very high possibility that your local videographer really has no idea how to properly shoot architecture. They could be an extremely talented video producer with a glorious resume of amazing videos (even real estate work), but architectural photography is a very unique field with very different and specific skills, tools, and understanding required to actually tell your projects story at a high level.
Your architectural photographer is extremely familiar with your industry and typically knows what you are looking for. Hiring an architectural photographer to produce your videos will result in a more precise video that integrates seamlessly with your existing project photography. Your horizontals and verticals will be straight, your compositions will be clean and compelling, everything will be shot at the proper time of day, and color temperatures will be corrected just like the stills.
AJ Brown Imaging has been photographing architecture for 15 years, and creating video content for architecture firms and furniture manufacturers for 8 years. Architectural photographers are professional story tellers just like all the videographers out there. We have a vast understanding of your needs, desires, and rhythms of your work based on our long experience working with you and your industry. Just a little food for thought!
